Looks like a heavy fuller. A handled tool for shaping hot steel designed to be hit on the face with a heavier hammer or sledge. Perhaps left over from Bruce Northridge’s era at faire.
Hi, there! Nice to hear from you! That’s a good suggestion, but – are fullers ever made of wood? This thing (mine, anyway) is made of wood – the dented edge comes from hammering stakes (when Tom was chasing vampires) and smashing rats into tabletops (when I was giving housewifely arts demonstrations). I have no idea what Ronan’s mace is made of. I doubt he ever smashed any rats …
